Excellent painting Denis , you have done a really good job of it. Brilliant for your first oil painting a great debut.

Lovely work, Denise - well done!

Well this is a really good attempt Denise! Nobody would think that it’s your first oil painting. A very attractive landscape worthy of framing. I’m pleased that you enjoyed following my Christmas Fair stage demo, well done indeed!

Well worth hanging on the wall, terrific first attempt.

Thanks so much for your very kind comments Paul, Anne, Alan and Stephen. Alan, I'm pleased I didn't mess it up and your instructions are clear to follow,I've already got idea's for my next one. thanks.

Well done Denise

This is so well painted, Denise, good job!

Well done, Denise. That's a fine piece of work, obviously oils suit you.

So well done Denise, look forward to your next oil

Woohoo! Denise, this is fabulous well done that gal! For a first attempt at a new and not easy medium, you have done a marvellous job with a very pleasing result. I agree, well worth a frame. I’ve just put the brush down on my attempt, will post on the forum when I take a photo.

Thanks ever so much everyone, I really find it hard to know how I'm doing so thanks for all your encouragement. Heather, Dennis, Mia, Marjorie, Lewis, Hilary and Fiona. Can't wait to see it Fiona. Wasn't it great to do.

Love the patchwork effect of the fields and your subtle, limited, palette Denise.

And that's a "well done!" from me, as well. I painted my first oil around 56 years ago - and very happily indeed, I have long since lost it. But I do remember it - it was a still life; and I've remembered something else about it: I didn't use any turpentine ... anyway: yours is better!

Thanks so much Carole and Robert is must be just wonderful having all that experience, I still figuring out what other brushes I might on my next trip out. I have a good collection for watercolours and one for acrylics, now I'll have to build up a good selection for oils.

Excellent Denise, well done for a first oil painting

Really well done Denise!

Thank you for your kind words Romila and Tessa, much appreciated.

Thanks Maureen and Christine for your lovely comments.

I came across this demonstration on the Xmas fair page. It's my first ever attempt at an oil painting. I found the demonstration very enjoyable and the instructions very good to follow.
