Boats under the Harbour wall

This is a wonderful painting Michael, congrats.

Lovely painting and lovely shading

I love how you have done the rock textures and the deep shade of the right hand cliff. A lovely painting.

I think it a full success Michael, you have handled the lights and darks really well, and the rocks in the foreground are beautiful done .

Love the textures. Very nice

Really lovely painting, the rocks and deep shadows wonderful Michael.

Lovely foreground, very nicely done

Excellent work, Michael!

Lovely watercolour with strong tones.

Thank you everyone. I was pleased with the foreground but my perspective is a bit out with the distant boats - good job they are distant !

Wonderful areas of tonal contrasts Michael. Love the dark rock with the lightness of the boat, a striking area of the painting. I also like the bright sail against the headland.

Thank you Fiona. Bit like the curate’s egg this one . I’ve been wondering if you had been washed away after all the recent rain. Your post is reassuring!

The strong bold foreground contrasts beautifully with the gentle, inviting, background Michael. Love this.

Carole - thank you. I used to hate painting rocks; perhaps I’m slowly getting the hang of them 😊

Hang on Studio Wall

Paul Talbot-Greaves painted this view in acrylics in the latest edition of 'The Artist' magazine and invited people to have a go at it. I decided to try in pure watercolour. An exercise in values & contrast. Maybe a partial success!
