Great Gable from Haystacks.

I like it too, I was up there on April and have a rendition of my own tucked away somewhere! I love the way you have painted Great Gable with those gorgeous colours suggesting patches of light. Like the little figures making their way up to the summit too!

A very ‘happy painting’ Michael. Lovely glowing colours mingling on the hills. Watercolour at it’s best, for me anyway.

Please show us sometime Sarah. Glad you like it; was never happier than on the fells … it all started with a school geography week in the Langdales in 1954. Boy did I get wet but I was hooked!

What a nice comment Stephen! Thank you. Much appreciated.

I absolutely love it, Michael, super watercolour, such simplicity and economy, perfect!

Really like this Michael, the colours used, composition and distance work really well

I like it, it has a nostalgic atmosphere, love the soft washes. Is that you leaning on the stick Michael? :)

Thank you so much Thalia and David. The Lake District & fells are hard to beat. Carole - thank you. ‘Nostalgic’ is the word for me. Think it was in 2015 I was last up there. No - it was not me leaning on the stick but could be! These days I would need a Sedan chair propelled by four sturdy nurses (probably equipped with oxygen) to get up there 😎

Super and I like it too

I know what you mean Michael 😂. Derbyshire Dales is the most I can do these days, a miniature Lake District!

I don’t like it Michale , it’s so good I have to say the it’s above being liked it’s a superb little painting. I would proudly have it framed and on display , it’s has that beautiful watercolour transparency to the colours, something we don’t see so often these days.

Heather - thank you. Carole - 😊😊 Paul - thanks for the very generous comment. You are right, I should frame it to enjoy it. Probably like you, I have so many paintings stashed away that don’t see the light of day. I’m going to take you up on your suggestion.

This is beautifully painted Michael, especially your treatment of light and the soft glow this emanates.

Lovely Lakes painting. Reminds me of walks in the Lake District- always beautiful.

Thank you both - Carole (K) and Christine. Pleased you like it.

Wow….Michael, so much fresh air and space! Wonderful blend of colours and contours.

Glad you like it Fiona. It is a view that has a special place in my heart now that my hiking days are over.

Lovely, you have done the figures so well

Many thanks Romila. Figures are not my speciality but perhaps I’m slowly getting better at them.

Lovely watercolour Michael. Nice transparent colours.

Lovely to hear about your climb up Great Gable Michael. That might have been around the time I first climbed it with my parents. I have been going every year for 31 years now with them (now just my Dad and my sister). And I manage to squeeze in a visit or two most years with my boyfriend too!! Great Gable is a wonderful place, a little scary in places but that makes it all the more awesome (in the proper sense of the word!) Definitely nice places for the inward eye!

Thank you so much Dympna. And Sarah - 31 years! You must know every crag and gully 😊

Thank you Dennis.

Hang on Studio Wall

An ‘oldie’ from several years back - the last time my ageing knees were able to propel me over the fells. So a bit of nostalgia. Seeing Dennis Pickles’ lovely watercolours and memories of holidays in the Lake District prompted me to dig this one out again. If you have seen it before, my apologies but, dare I say, it I rather like it!
