Thank you Romila. Boats are fascinating! Fiona - hello stranger; thought you must have battened down the hatches for the winter in deepest Galloway! Glad you like the boat - my input is a bit wobbly but Alwyn’s original is amazing. Basically, it is a very simple painting and using only four colours re-inforces my view that one doesn’t really need a large palette.

I can remember having a go at this many years ago. You have produced a good good painting here. When I first started painting I got several of his books from the library. He had a very friendly, encouraging manner. He had many critics but I think many were jealous of his success!

Thank you Willie Heather and Stephen. What I like about Alwyn Crawshaw is his wonderful drawing skills and the very clever way he uses his various brushstrokes. Instead of ploughing my own furrow, I have found it quite instructive to go back to basics and try to re-learn some of the things I have forgotten!
