Turned out great Michael. It's your work and one to be proud of.

I really like it Michael.

Super watercolour Michael. Love the boat and reflections.

I agree with Carole about the boat and reflections. It is a lovely painting.

Thank you Jim, Carole, Diane & Anne. Enjoyed doing this but Mr Crawshaw should get the plaudits!

I think there is more Michael than Alwyn in there......your boat is fabulous.....I can’t do boats, so I’m envious Michael. Smashing watercolour!

Thank you Romila. Boats are fascinating! Fiona - hello stranger; thought you must have battened down the hatches for the winter in deepest Galloway! Glad you like the boat - my input is a bit wobbly but Alwyn’s original is amazing. Basically, it is a very simple painting and using only four colours re-inforces my view that one doesn’t really need a large palette.

Great light & reflections, lovely painting

Lovely watercolour Michael, clean clear washes and good tones.

Pleased you like this Hilary & David. Tried to keep it simple and loose; reflections a bit of a nightmare but just about got away with it!

Fabulous painting, Michael a lovely balance of colour and tone, really like it.

I like this a lot Michael

I can remember having a go at this many years ago. You have produced a good good painting here. When I first started painting I got several of his books from the library. He had a very friendly, encouraging manner. He had many critics but I think many were jealous of his success!

Thank you Willie Heather and Stephen. What I like about Alwyn Crawshaw is his wonderful drawing skills and the very clever way he uses his various brushstrokes. Instead of ploughing my own furrow, I have found it quite instructive to go back to basics and try to re-learn some of the things I have forgotten!

Thank you Paul. There’s something about boats that makes them so compelling to paint.

An unashamed attempt at a Crawshaw watercolour using a limited palette. Tried to follow his demo instructions but the result could have been better! Enjoyed painting the boat. Used ultramarine blue, raw sienna, a touch of burnt sienna & a smidgeon of permanent rose.
