This is lovely, know the place well

What a beautiful scene and watercolour Michael. As always your sky is fantastic and thank you for sharing your memories.

Thank you Heather. Nice place to be isn’t it - especially I think West Wight. The walk down Tennyson’s Down to Freshwater Bay is one of my all-time favourites. Fiona - up in wet & windy Galloway - thank you! Glad you like the sky but, to let you into a secret, it’s a rescue job. I mucked up the middle and had to superimpose some large cumulus clouds to obscure it. I’m hoping there was no wind and the clouds stay in-situ! 😊

Love this Michael and you’ve painted that sky with such panache, can’t believe it wasn’t intentional. There is a freshness about this and a lovely quality of light that is so appealing.

Thank you Maureen & Carole ...... for panache read panic 😊. I’m pleased the light effect comes across. With watercolour, I try to keep washes as simple as possible and avoid layering if I can. I think it helps.

You can’t tell it’s a rescue job Michael. It’s sunny here in Galloway, I’ve done all my chores so I’m off to get the deck chair out! 😎

Really lovely sky, love the clouds! Love the contrasts Michael.

Thanks Carole; bit late seeing your comment!

A view painted many years ago by Edward Wesson which I have taken the liberty of painting in my own way. Across the waters of the Solent on mainland Hampshire you can see Sway Tower (otherwise known as Peterson's Folly) poking out above the skyline. I lived for 42 years in Sway and both my parents were born on the IOW where I started school in 1944! So the view has some meaning to me.
