The old coastguard cottages at Mudeford Dorset

I really like this Michael, the colours are great and the simple silhouette approach is lovely

Thank you Heather - I should have squared the picture up before posting; the horizon of trees is going uphill!

Great sky and reflections Michael and the distant tree line really gives that distance to the whole thing, nice one.

Love the darker areas that form the silhouette of buildings and posts Michael. The fast moving sky gives a feeling of blustery weather.

Love the sky Michael

Thank you Malcolm Fiona & Romila. My origins version was darker and rather more atmospheric I think. Funny how doing a ‘Mark 2’ version often seems to leave one thinking the first was better!

Lovely watercolour, Michael

Thank you Maureen.

I painted another version of this some years ago. Against the light the old black coastguard cottages make a striking silhouette against the sky especially towards sunset. Adjacent are some old beach huts. The view is from the northern side of the narrow entrance to Christchurch harbour. Sometimes the water is placid but at spring ebb tides the water rips out into the Solent at speed. Nice fresh fish stall out of shot on the right!
