Great Gable from Haystacks

Great Gable from Haystacks

Very accomplished Michael. Very pleasing. And well done for the climb. You're in heaven up there.

Lovely, soft washes on the hillsides against the sharp foreground colours and figure Michael. Looks like you had a great time painting this.

Superb piece Michael.

Lovely well painted and accomplished painting

This is a very beautiful watercolour. I love the fresh washes.

Wonderful view and beautiful watercolour.

This is super Michael, wonderful view.

Many thanks for your kind words Michael, Sarah, Henry, Dennis R., Cecilia, Cesare and Margaret. I particularly enjoyed painting this - probably because there is nowhere I would rather be than out on the Lakeland fells.

Michael you've made this paper work for you here, it's a example of watercolour at it's best. And well done to your knees!

Has a lovely soft feel to this one Michael, very well painted.

A beautiful place very well executed Michael.

Really nicely done Michael, I really like the blending, it captures that elusive light of the Lakes that cannot be found anywhere else. I have spent many years in those hills both on my own and leading groups, I have also been lucky enough to go into the big mountain ranges of the world, but I always loved returning to the Lakes. A really smashing painting Michael

Thank very much for those nice comments Fiona, Stephen, Carole & Malcolm. It is hard to beat the Lake District for beauty and a day on the fells always uplifts the spirits. Painted this on 300lb Arches Rough which takes the paint beautifully and does not buckle - expensive I know but nice to use occasionally.

Wonderful 'lost and found' work Michael. A beautiful image which really reflects the vibrant greens of my home county!

Thanks Rob - got to do your home county justice!

Hang on Studio Wall

My ageing knees managed to propel me up a couple of climbs in the Lake District recently. One of these was up Haystacks and this is the view south from the summit towards the imposing dome of Great Gable. Watercolour painted on Arches 300 lb. Rough.
