Henry, you are very kind. This one 'worked' but many don't! I don't think one ever masters the medium which has a habit of catching one out. Just when you think you have the answers, it reminds you that you haven't!

Thank you Frank. I enjoyed painting this because it is beautiful spot that holds good memories - even though the weather is much better in my painting than it ever was when I was there!

I doubt Ingrid Bergman ever visited this Inn at Wasdale Head in the Lake District but I wouldn't mind betting many hill walkers have and my title probably well describes their feelings after a strenuous day out on the fells. Based on a photo I saw in a book about Wainwright Walks and I was struck by the bright evening sunlight on the white walls contrasting sharply with the deep shadow behind. 14x10 in. on Arches 140lb.
