The Thames at twilight

As you say Michael a tricky subject. But you have painted a fine watercolour from it. The lively sky works well and the colour on the bridge brinks it forward from the grey background buildings. The reflections of the lights seem quite strong but they can be in reality.

Twilight I.m.o is the worst possible time to do anything, visually. You've captured the light on the Thames and surrounds perfectly, but the sky seems to have to strong a blue for the light at that time. Not a criticisism, but a observation, otherwise it looks perfect.

I do like this subject, and it's one I keep returning to, having yet another attempt. I do agree about that time of day being difficult and I also feel that the sky may be a bit too bright, but I am probably wrong, it's just distracting me slightly away from the main subject, excellent watercolour and I really like your boats.

Beautiful glow on the sky, the lights make it dusk. Good painting Michael you nailed it.

Tricky subject, quickly success.

Thank you everyone. Not really sure if I like it or not! Anyway it was something different to try and not a complete disaster.

Absoltuely stunning Michael....transports me back to my days working in London, right near Tower Bridge!! You have captured the feeli of twilight beautifully.

Thank you Graeme and Chandra. You have cheered me up - maybe it has more merit than I thought.

Very nicely done Michael - tricky to suggest detail without painting it, and you've done it perfectly! Nice composition, too.

A bit tricky this one but an attempt to portray London at dusk with Tower Bridge illuminated and the the lights on the north bank. In the foreground a few birds survey the scene and a lone oarsman paddles his way home.
