Thank you Stephen, Maria, Chris, Jenny, Dennis, Andre & Derek. I am pleased that it is recognisable as a Lakes scene. I love that part of the world and still manage to wheeze and gasp to the tops now and then. The views are often so rewarding and there is always the downhill return to the pub for a pint and a pasty to look forward to!

Hi Michael I am just texting to tell you I took your advice I have added white to the windmill sails and cast a shadow under the sails it looks better to me thankyou for good advice .

Another great painting, Michael. Do I see a touch of the JF-W showing through here? Have just caught up with your work after your trip to Australia - were some of these scenes painted out there or later? Hope you enjoyed yourselves

Hello Tony - if a touch of JF-W shows, then I'm a happy man! Great time in Aussie but all painting done here at home. Would love to have taken painting equipment but space and weight made it impossible. Away nearly 6 weeks and had to cram in wedding gear for niece's wedding as well. So limited to sketching plus photos - even that was trying when temp. reached close to 40 C in the shade! The more I think about it, our temperate climate and scenery gives us the ideal weather and subjects to paint - certainly in watercolour.

A distant fell, a stone bridge, a couple of houses and the beck tumbling over the rocks in the foreground. An imaginary scene but I hope it says 'Lake District' to those who know the area. A Happy Christmas to you all.
