Superb work Michael, even that central vertical tree does not throw the scene out although it's something we are taught to avoid.

A beauty great ozzie atmosphere Michael

Thanks Derek - I thought about that central tree but included it because it was there! In the gum forest, some parts are so convoluted with tree trunks winding all over the place that composition becomes of less importance; wherever one looks it is chaos! What struck me more than anything was the light filtering through the trees. This is one of the more 'orderly' parts of the forest - perhaps I'll try another where chaos reigns!

Appreciated Dennis - thank you.

If this is your first attempt Michael, I can't wait until you get into the swing of it......this is a super start, love it!

Beautiful the tree in the foreground is superb.

Lovely work Michael and yes you have certainly conveyed the atmosphere here Michael really nice painting<br />

E by gum, that&#39;s fair dinkum Michael.

Hi Fiona, Cesare, Dennis (Roberts) &amp; Stephen - thank you all. I&#39;ll endeavour to paint some more Aussie scenes when time permits.

I've been away on holiday in Australia and this is my first attempt at painting a scene from my travels. This is near Bobbin Head and the Kalkari Discovery Centre north of Sydney. The gum forests are beautiful places - often with weird and wonderful contorted branches and lovely light dappling the ground. Hope I have conveyed something of the atmosphere.
