Do like your use of the medium in this - my sort of scene.

beautifully done Michael

Thank you Michael & Sandy. I enjoyed painting this - such a lovely spot. I am a 75 year old amateur who didn't take up painting until I was 66 -wish I had started younger! My father was a very talented artist who painted in both watercolour and oils and also drew very well so perhaps a little has rubbed off on me. I am still finding my way around this site having joined only today! However, I also post on the WetCanvas Watercolour Gallery web site under the pseudonym "rossmarie".. Have made a lot of internet painting friends there some of whom are wonderful artists and helped me improve (I hope). Mike

Lovely watercolour Michael. Love the fresh colours and the subject matter.

Thank you Dympna. This one has found its way on to the Shere Village web-site which was a pleasant surprise. It was one of those paintings where I set out with no great expectations (a lot of greens to cope with) and was, unusually, fairly happy with the result.

Lovely work Michael a beautiful painting .

Thank you Dermot. As I remarked to Dympna, this painting turned out better than I dared hope - wish they all did!

Love your watercolours Michael especially as many of the scenes remind me of my childhood spent in your area. ( PS This is a long shot but are you the Mike Trask friend of Mike Boella ?!!!)

Thank you Avril. Very kind of you. Where did you live as a child? I lived in Fareham as a boy and went to school in Portsmouth but have lived in the New Forest at Sway for many years. Heavens...is there another Mike Trask lurking? I'm afraid I never knew a Mike Boella.

I lived in Southampton; sadly I learnt from my brother that your homonyme died many years ago. He would have been your age - quite a coincidence.

Nice painting but I think the church is too central. Cropping the right hand side would too much dominance to the large tree while cropping the left hand side would give a much better composition. I always sketch my proposed paintings in pencil in a sketchbook to get the compositional element right and have record to which I can refer back.

Thank you for your comment, congratulation for your work.

This is lovely Michael. I so appreciated your comment on the landscape I recently posted. I am new to landscape painting and finding it pleasurable, but very challenging. I rush because I am afraid the light is going to shift or fade! I need to slow down a bit and really think about the composition - and your remark will help me in my next effort.

Hello. I am a retired Chartered Building Surveyor who took up watercolours at the age of 66 fifteen years ago. It is never too late! Whilst I could always draw and understood perspective ( my training helped that) I had never painted other than a few sketches for clients as an articled pupil 60…
