Pisa watercolour 17 x13 cm

This is super Mark, lucky friend,

Smashing painting Mark, great work.

Great painting - love your free style and limited colour, Mark

Like the compositional balance of bold foreground shapes implying the horse drawn carriages to the right with the warmer passages of colour to the left, further back. Did you use a preliminary drawing, and what size is the original?

More good work Mark. I like how you use toning even in the very dark shadows

Hi Philip, I don’t do any drawing out I just go straight in with the brush, cutting out the lighter shapes and adding the darker forms..

Great. Love your work, Mark.

Great tones, composition and mark making. Lively, I really like it

Thank you for all your comments everyone. And Philip, forgot to say, the original size of this painting is 17 x 13cm.

Love it, Mark, have to say i don't draw first. When i do my work seems to lose its oomph!

Hang on Studio Wall

I painted this as a greeting card for a friend. Pisa in Italy has some great streets and the horse drawn carriages add some interest. Painted on Saunders Waterford paper.
