Portmeirion first arch

Portmeirion first arch

Lovely work!

Nice work mark great composition great painting , if I had painted this id have put those figures under the arch in hard silouehette it would really become the focal point then . its great any way hope you don't mind my comment its meant with good intention Mark .

You are right Dennis, and they aren't dark enough. I might amend that.

Yes Mark it should do the trick on this one , before you paint the dark figures it might have even more impact of you lighten the background trees in the arch.

Beautiful light and a superb watercolour.

Good work - some great washes.

Hang on Studio Wall

When you walk into Portmeirion this is the first arch you pass under to the plummy tones of Sir Clough William Ellis. When the light is just right you get these wonderful tree shadows and back lit figures. This is my first painting of 2018! Painted on Saunders Waterford paper and Daniel Smith paints.
