I love the soft texture in this piece Marjorie, it seems to work very well with the still life.

Mmm.... dreamy Marjorie, absolutely love the flashes of light throughout the painting.

Like it Marjorie, very dreamy application of pastel.

lovely quality of light radiating throughout Marjorie

Dreamy was my first response too. It's a great effect Marjorie.

A beautiful work Marjorie, the light showing is brilliant.

Thankyou for looking and commenting Adele, Fiona, John, David,Michael and Margaret. It's a bit " chocolate box" but it's hard to do otherwise in a garden like this. Still loving painting outside.

This is stunning Marjorie. I love the soft pastel look. I think it's your best work yet.

Beautiful impressionistic painting Marjorie

Beautiful effect Marjorie..

What a fairy impression. Love the colours and also: it is full of light. Well done, Marjorie.

Your love of painting outside shines through in this little beauty Marjorie.

Amazing painting, Marjorie, wonderful colours and beautiful light effect. I think it is your best.

Beautiful and harmonious Marjorie.

Lovely work Marjorie, I like how you have highlighted the plants in the centre of the composition.

Thankyou Henry - don't know about that tho', thanks also to Dermot and Sylvia - There was so much to see that an " impression" seemed the best way to go.

Thankyou Mia, I never thought of it like that. Val, I almost didn't know where to start ...Thankyou Cesare for that comment but I'm not convinced. And Thankyou Carole and Stephen - I didn't use too many different colours and the purples and blues from the still life underneath helped. But you should have seen the messy start, I always end up having to work my way "out" of something.

Beautiful soft colours, really effective for capturing this garden. The still life seemed to breathe life into this painting!

After a morning on the beach, which was a bit "blowy", we went to Howick Garden and sat for a couple of hours to paint. This is on muslin covered MDF , painted over an existing still life, the colours of which showed through and merged into this effort.
