Having done rather a few figure sketches recently, the idea now is to bring them all together. A larger painting, some splattering, darker colours. I have the idea in my head, whether it works out is another matter! I do think though that trying out different ways of painting opens our minds and gives us ideas for new works.

Terrific, Louise. A really vibrant painting. Your philosophy is not so shoddy either.

This reminds me of that scene in the film 'Cabaret' when Liza Minelli is interacting with a chair in a rather sexy way. I love the contre jour effect and the wonderful rich colours you have used. I think these paintings you are doing lately are spectacular because they are so compelling, but also excitingly experimental.

That's so good Louise and it's great that this technique has triggered off new ideas. Looking forward to the bigger picture! I've given up on the splattering, and straws and put my paints away as I'm off on holiday for a week, hopefully I'll come back with renewed enthusiasm!

Many thanks Harry, Thea and Christine. Christine, best use the straws for the holiday drinks then which you're probably planning to do..lol.

A much more effective use for them!

I haven't been very active on P-on-L for some time but I have followed your figure paintings which, I must, say are superb. It is also fascinating to see how they have developed into your latest offering. Very well done, Louise!

This is fantastic. Best of those since hydra! Your experimenting is bearing fruit.

This is great, so much to enjoy : the darks against the backlighting, the almost arrogant look on her face - and nice tights!

They are indeed getting better and better Louise! This one is soooo good,I love the darker colours, the nets and the red shoes! ( Wish I could wear them.) Super work!!

Great impact Louise, she has a 1920's look about her....love it!

I was thinking of cabaret also. She certainly seems to be interacting with us viewers. These recent works have real shine to them, which is very attractive.

Wow get a load of this! Great figure Louise, great style too.

Great image and style.

I like your great picture idea for all your figures etc, can't wait to see it! It will be terrific :)

Wow. I like it all but especially tights, lovely red shoes and the shapes created by the chair.

Wow - this is fantastic Louise - absolutely love the white linear areas. Also love the textures that you are creating.

Thank you all so much for all the encouraging comments!
