Wild Garlic Lane
For this painting I started with a textured undercoat of watercolour ground. To achieve this I applied and then "lifted off" the ground with paper to mark and distress the surface. When this was dry I painted the scene with watercolours and ink and used granulation medium to add interest to the washes. This piece is significant to me as it marks a shift in my painting approach to be looser and to make use of the grain and textures to depict the lush landscape of trees, wild garlic and worn fencing.
