Cliff Fury the British Elvis- you’ve really captured him there Lewis especially his hair and mouth. A real array of swooning fans too.

Very pop colour. Great work as always Lewis 🤗

Fabulous combination of all 3 Lewis, and the expression on the fans really makes the painting. Love it!

This looks fantastic Lewis.

Feels as if those people are about to perform. There is such a wonderful feeling of immediacy here, Lewis.

Love the concept and as usual great artwork

Great combination of characters.

Great 'poster' Lewis, you have to chuckle at some of the names that were foisted on these pop stars such as Wilde, Storme and Tempest etc.

Those were the days! The British version is still alive and kicking, most of the others died young - car crashes, plane crashes, motor bike crashes ( we won't go into the drugs etc). See what you've done Lewis? My mind's gone off at a tangent! Great imagination again.

Thanks for your great comments. Very much appreciated.

Although too young to have appreciated these artists in their heyday, my eldest brother was a huge Elvis fan so I did grow up with his music. I don’t think anyone on the British scene could have filled his shoes but out of the two wannabes I would go for Billy Fury. Love how you have placed this altogether, the narrative and the images Lewis.

Those were the days..... coincidently I've been singing along to Billy Fury just recently and surprising myself by remembering all of the words LOL

Great colours Lewis - How did you think of Cliff Fury 🤗Excellent .

I love the way you've painted that girl on the left Lewis. I never really was a fan of Elvis and that song "Wooden Heart" made me cringe. The Beatles did it for me, who seemed to knock out hit after hit and their work evolved incredibly over the years.

In Elvis Presley's heyday, the British Media were keen to nominate a British Elvis. Two they chose were Cliff Richard and Billy Fury. I expect these singers had mixed feelings about that. I was already too old for this at the time, but I liked some of the songs. So my pic is not Elvis or Cliff or Billy, but another wannabe Presley. The man and the girls are watercolour and pen, the rest was added in photoshop (really simple stuff in that app.)

About the Artist
Lewis Cooper

Self taught. Love drawing. Like to make pictures up, without using reference pics, often in cartoon style. I do other pictures where I do use reference. I'm knocking on a bit, born in 1940 in Greenwich, London. Retired, and loving it.
