A very impressive piece of painting.

Wondered when he would pop up. This is a very well done painting Lew, your mix of media is fantastic.

I like it too Lewis, v good!

Very good Lewis. Really interesting to see how you did it on the Forum.

I have watch the master at work on this , it was so good to see it develop and have your narrative . Your work is superb Lew and yet like all of us you still suffer the self doubt bug, I think it one of those thing is is a part of our nature.

Excellent painting, Lewis, love it.

Brilliant drawing you are just too good. 😏

Smasing Lewis, I like the outline on his clothes and hand, very nice touch. Very good to watch it developed on the forum.

Great drawing. And a most appropriate quote to sum him up.

Another beaut , Lewis , and one that relates to a book given to me for Christmas 1945 and read on most years since at this time of year. Same book - minus its spine cover - but still as enjoyable

Another gem.

Thanks to everybody for your great response and kind remarks. Yes Mike, we have a ancient version of the book...well thumbed. A few years ago I bought an illustrated version, and found out that our old book was an abridged edition.

Love everything about this Lewis. Wouldn’t be Christmas without a painting of Scrooge. Love the light from the candle shining on that very shrewd face, illuminating the hope of redemption. So cleverly thought out and painted.

So full of detail that I love to see and all brilliantly illustrated, just superb Lewis.

Splendid and profound Lewis. Happy Christmas.

Perfect, in my eyes, in every way lewis.

As always… sheer brilliance in the drawing department!

Nice 1 Lewis.

Love the way the candle light is reflected off his jacket and hand Lewis.

Thanks again to all for your response to my drawing, as ever, it's very encouraging.

I run out of compliments for your humour and artwork. Can say no more !

Great. Happy Christmas, Lewis

Superb illustration!!

It's fabulous, Lewis - so much character and expression in the eyes. Merry Christmas!

My annual foray into Charles Dickens' great story. Didn't work out quite as I'd hoped. Meant to be in caricature style, but it's not 'caricature enough', and is verging on reality. Big heads are fine for caricatures, not so good for realistic work. But perversely, I quite like it. 16 x 12 inches. Watercolour, coloured pencil (water-soluble and not), tiny touches of gouache.

About the Artist
Lewis Cooper

Self taught. Love drawing. Like to make pictures up, without using reference pics, often in cartoon style. I do other pictures where I do use reference. I'm knocking on a bit, born in 1940 in Greenwich, London. Retired, and loving it.
