Great job Lewis. Love that nose.

He looks goon to me Lewis, I especially like the eyes. I think we all become self critical when are work doesn’t turn out as we hoped.

He gets the thumbs up from me Lewis.

Great work Lewis, he's gazing at us with contempt I feel

Great character, brilliantly drawn Lew.

Thanks very much for your comments. He's OK, but he's not quite the Ahab I imagine...maybe that's the problem...I'm not imagining him well enough.

Looks fine to me, Lewis, he has contempt all around the mouth, to my mind

A great character Lewis!

Well his eyes look a bit shifty, great work Lewis.

Trying to visualise Captain AHAB from Melville's 'Moby Dick.' Thought I had him with the preliminary sketch but I've haven't got what I was after. I didn't want him grimacing, but he doesn't look quite as forbidding as I think he should. Might have another go at some point. But he does look like an old salt. This is in a new toned Strathmore sketchbook, they are surprising robust for paper of only 118 gsm. I really should do these things on heavier paper, but I like working in sketchbooks.

Self taught. Love drawing. Like to make pictures up, without using reference pics, often in cartoon style. I do other pictures where I do use reference. I'm knocking on a bit, born in 1940 in Greenwich, London. Retired, and loving it.
