A modern Mucha! Well done Lew she has the look of Penelope Cruz.

Ahh...when I posted it, I couldn't remember who the ref photo was of...it was Penelope Cruz. Although... I didn't slave over a likeness, I was just trying to get away from one of my stock 'made-up' faces. Thank you Carole.

Amazing detail and fantastic work again Lew. Hat off for your skill and imagination. Superb.

Really lovely. Lewis. I saw Penelope Cruz immediately.

I love this beautiful painting, Lewis, especially the decorative element to it (and the little creature peering at us over the tree!)

not familiar with that artist Lewis , and forgive me if I also say I have no idea who Penelope Cruz is either , so when I say I like this painting - reminds me of a frontispiece - it reflects purely on what I am looking at. A good one.

Lovely, I do like this style of painting, very much Art Deco 😀

such a unusual change for you, I think the whole painting is beautiful, and not a wayward character in sight beautifully done Lewis

Thanks very much to all for your comments, I'm a big fan of Mucha - his poster work mostly, and although this isn't much like his work, it's nudging in that direction.

Very art deco Lewis, and quite a change for you. It looks really good and I like the border too.

Going to a Mucha exhibition in the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum in Glasgow was my birthday treat a couple of years ago and I recognised this as his style straight away. You are so versatile Lewis, this is excellent.

Such wonderful imagination, Lewis!

Great composition beautifully painted.

Something I did a couple of years back. Intended to be in the style of Alphonse Mucha ( a favourite artist). But, beyond using black outlines and a decorative border, it isn't anything like his style. That's what was in my mind anyway. I used a ref photo for the girl, the rest is made up. 16 x 12. Watercolour and pen.

About the Artist
Lewis Cooper

Self taught. Love drawing. Like to make pictures up, without using reference pics, often in cartoon style. I do other pictures where I do use reference. I'm knocking on a bit, born in 1940 in Greenwich, London. Retired, and loving it.
