got it Lewis. I usually do a line drawing first if proportions need to be correct. Imaginative piece.

Well it worked out pretty darn good Lewis

Really Cool! I have carried bound sketchbooks since the 70's. A wonderful imagination you have.

You are so clever Lewis, I would have to draw something in pencil first so I could rub out my mistakes!!!!

Wow, looks a little bit like a woodcut. Great drawing and an exciting composition, too Lewis!

Thanks for the comments, I was expecting somebody to say I draw like that with a pen all the time...so far, nobody has. Margaret, I usually draw a very loose pencil drawing first and then go over with a pen, adding the details. I only do it this way as an exercise (rarely).

Well, Lewis, I didn't say, but I use only a graphic pen (Sharpie fine point) for most of my sketching..

Skylar, I nearly didn't post the picture. But I was curious to see if other pen & inkers made no pencil guide-lines first. I was half expecting it to be the norm. There's a few artists on the net who draw this way - notably Kim Jung Gi. I try it occasionally, only in my sketchbooks, and produce some absolute duffers. If this is your normal way of drawing with a pen, I'm impressed!

He is an absolutely gorgeous dragon.

Totally brilliant Lewis!

Great skill and imagination Lewis in all that you do!

More sketchbook stuff. I think this type of drawing is called 'free-drawing'...might have that wrong. Normally when I draw in pen and ink, I do a rough pencil sketch first. No real detail, more a case of placing the objects on the page...then I do the pen and ink over it.

About the Artist
Lewis Cooper

Self taught. Love drawing. Like to make pictures up, without using reference pics, often in cartoon style. I do other pictures where I do use reference. I'm knocking on a bit, born in 1940 in Greenwich, London. Retired, and loving it.
