A great seasonal one, the three characters are great. My Favourite is the girl her face says so much.

Another characterful seasonal pic...love it. Just seen the size of your work Lew I hadn’t realised you worked so big , plus what is your mixed media?. Your Carol singers have been well received on my F B page ,thanks for that.

Thanks for a few minutes reminiscing and enjoying your wonderful work

the youngest daughter still follows the stocking routine - and this is with a 14 and 17 year old family. That is where the magic of Christmas was and is. Pleased to get my "daily" dose of humour - thank you.

Always take a long look at your work Lewis, there is always some much in it.

Fantastic characterisation and originality Lewis.

Thanks everybody for your very generous comments. Sylvia, I don't work in this size all the time. But I do find it helpful...these old hands aren't so steady these days. I find working in a larger scale makes my wobbly lines less obvious. Mixed media is pen, watercolor, gouache, colored pencil...mostly pen and watercolor...I think that makes it mixed media.

Nice one lew, your narrative also bought back a lot of memories especially the "Pillow case" which was additional to the main present, it was filled with the likes of the Dandy, the Beano and the Eagle annuals, plus games like snakes and ladders and lots of other small incidentals toys. My family were poor but they made sure Christmas was magical for us kids and for that I am forever grateful.

Nice one Lew. Socks were for an apple, orange and some walnuts. We too were quite a poor family and it was usually one main present and an annual of choice plus some sweets. It was still a magical time. Great drawing as ever.

Well thought out, great expressions.

Yes, our socks were primed with fruit and nuts but the favourite was the wonderful walnut. Great work again, Lew, with superb characterisation. Bri

Along with nuts and sweeties in my stocking there was always a shiny red apple and a tangerine, not something that we had regularly. A wonderful painting and narrative to bring the best of Christmas back to mind.

Thanks again for your great feedback. I think most of us have memories of the Christmas sock. Not much in them back then, we weren't very rich...so a few sweets, that walnut in the toe (it had to be in the toe or it didn't feel right), the highlight for me was the Christmas edition of the Dandy, then the Eagle as I grew older. Older or not, I still looked forward to the Christmas sock.

We are all of an age when christmas was in proportion. Nowadays....but this time I suggesred to my kids and partners we would spend just £20 on each ( not the grandchildren ). Spare money could go to a good cause. We are all enjoying the challenge! My Christmas was great - my dad's sock filled with nuts and a Mackintosh red ( highly polished), tangerine, a silver threepenny bit and there must have been more. Beside it a selection box, a couple of annuals ( School Friend and Girl's Crystal ) and a compendium. Pure excitement! I love your reminiscences Lewis, they bring back lovely memories.

When I was a nipper, we hung a sock and a pillow case over our bed rail. The sock was always full of tiny knick-knacks, a Dandy comic, and that all important walnut in the toe. Our kids loved that too, and our grand-kids.
