Your playing around is VERY good!

Superb Lewis can't wait to see Doctor Watson too.

I wish I could play around as good as this Lew, your very hard on yourself , they are excellent figures. The central figure to me look as if he is in thought , hence the slightly vacant look. I like the idea of your own Homes rather than the actor type.

Excellent drawings Lewis, I loved the film as a child, The Basil Rathbone version is still one of my favourite films of all time.

Very difficult not to draw an actor, well done. I think the gent on the right is most like how I imagine Mr Holmes.

All brilliantly drawn Lewis as always, I think you 'found him' in the top left corner, I love the raised eyebrow and that rather bulbous eye. I really like the smoke too!

Great characterisation Lewis. Goodness all that smoke. They must have coughed their heads off in those days.

I think they look great - like the smoke.

Nice work Lew. Our own versions of what/who we see in our imagination and how we see it/them are what it's all about.

Such well drawn Sherlocks Lewis!

They are so good Lew, they all look in serious thought.

Very good drawings each one slightly different and interesting. Like the smoke.

If that's just playing around Lewis stick at it. It's full of nostalgia for an ex pipe smoker like me I'll never forget the sweet taste of tobacco, the clouds of smoke and that strong sense of calm.

Great sketches, Lewis - and I really like that blue against the monochrome figures.

Thanks to all for your comments. Of these, I think I prefer the top left figure...if I ever get around to this idea, I'll use something like him. Jenny, the background blue was blocked in with watercolour.

Great character drawing Lewis. The waft of pipe smoke takes me back to younger days watching cricket: wherever we sat there always seemed to be a pipe smoker sitting behind us! Presumably not allowed now but I quite liked the smell at a suitable distance! Strange how memories like that come back. 🙂

I imagined him with a sharper hooked nose, but your imagination is a lot more fruitful than mine. I quite like the chap on the right for Moriaty!

Brilliant I really like your coloured pencil look. Works really well. So clever

Keep playing around Lewis ! The smoke effect is very good indeed.

My hero! For me the one on the right is himself.

Didn't find him. Didn't want to copy actors. I gave the one in the middle close set eyes, thinking he'd look astute...just looks like his eyes are too close together. Smoke added as an afterthought...not quite right. Just playing around.

About the Artist
Lewis Cooper

Self taught. Love drawing. Like to make pictures up, without using reference pics, often in cartoon style. I do other pictures where I do use reference. I'm knocking on a bit, born in 1940 in Greenwich, London. Retired, and loving it.
