Bushlands of Africa
This painting of Africa was made using acrylic on clay board. After painting loosely, allowing the watery paint to pool and settle, I added layers of vibrant colour before going in with scraping tools. I used fine points and sandpaper to add texture and to take out areas of colour. The surface was built up with further painting and scraping and then a large brush was used to harmonise the whole painting and add loose areas of colour again.

As a very young girl at school I remember painting a picture of a boat on the sea. It was probably just a red and blue splodge but I was commended for it and from then on I fell in love with trying to make recognisable images.
