Helen this is absolutely stunning, superb work. Fabulous mixtures and application of colour.

Thank you.

What an unusual painting and I like how you have only used two colours and the texture is good too :)

Apologies, there is some cadmium red on the eye too, forgot to mention.

Helen, thank you for your comment on my 'Barn' painting. I saw this earlier and had intended to comment. It's so different to the usual subjects and compositions, and It's really refreshing to see something so original. I love the iridescent quality it has, and I'm very curious about how you painted it.

Great textures Helen and I love the colours.

Thank you for yor comments. I cannot take credit for the idea it was from my painting tutor Paul Talbot-Greaves. He was showing us how to be free with layers of colour washes with texture on each layer created by splattering paint or clean water with different sized brushes, using a natural sponge etc onto nearly dry paint. The white areas were created by dropping masking fluid onto nearly dry paint, you can leave it on or rub it off depending on the effect you want. I partly rubbed it off.

great painting of the fish, it looks so life-like, wonderful use of the two colours..

Hang on Studio Wall

Started in a class, experimenting with creating textured effects. Only two colours used, Alizarin Crimson and Prussian Blue
