The Old Lockup

The Old Lockup

The painting is impressive, but why? For me it is not the subject, it is more the patterns and shapes beeing almost abstract. Beautiful light and shadow Guy.

Great use of shadows and light - not to mention the shapes and patterns that Holger likes. You have turned the very ordinary into something very attractive.

Wonderful light and shadow as well as great textures.

It's a shed - it's the back of Arthur Daley's lock-up. It shouldn't work as a painting. But it damn' well does! Because it's a study in light, shade, and tones, plus an architectural quality - it was Chardin who said 'it doesn't matter what you paint, it's how you paint it' (in French, of course......); and I'm not sure I ever really appreciated before just how right he was.

Really lovely Guy. It makes me want to knows what's inside!!

Great texture an palette. Very evocative piece, Guy!
