Wow, what a terrific palette, Fiona. Well, if this is an example of not having your heart in it, I would like to see one with your heart in it.

Lol....Seth, you are very kind, thank you. It’s the first pastel I’ve done for quite a while, I was a bit hesitant.

Everyone's getting imaginative lately. It's bright and cheers me up Fiona and it's all there as a landscape. Hope to see more of your lovely work soon. It's been a long boring Winter and I seem to have increased my stock of bits and pieces accordingly. Keeps me sane.

Thank you Michael. It still feels as though lady winter still has her hand firmly clutched around Galloway, she’s reluctant to let go. From what you’ve been posting lately Michael they are more than bits and pieces.....not sure about the sane part though...lol. Thanks again.

It caught my eye straight away Fiona with those lovely bright colours. You certainly haven't gone over the top, and I'd love to see your oil version if you do one.

Most unusual and most effective. Love the bold approach Fiona.

Some gorgeous colours in this, so dramatic Fiona! Also very confident pastel.

Aha- those fields of the yellow stuff! I’d be very pleased with this Fiona-lovely colours and summery landscape. Pastel and I don’t get along well so respect where due! You obviously handle them confidently and well.

Hey! Another pastelite in our midst. Terrific work, Fiona, with a wonderfully fresh approach to landscape painting. Those bold colours are particularly striking, speaking of the joy and brilliance of the land around us. The impressionistic approach suits this theme perfectly, mainly because it feels like you WERE in the "bubble", that place we go to when we paint freely. If you adopt the same style with your oil painting, I'd say your friend was in for a real treat. This is great as is, so don't be so hard on yourself. Truly! Brian

A lovely bright, light filled work Fiona, pastels are very vibrant and suit this scene well.

Sunsets are notoriously difficult to look realistic, they are often overdone and look dreadful. Think of all those sunsets in oils done with a painting knife when you've been abroad on the art stalls, usually with a brace of Galleon's heading towards the horizon. I feel sick just thinking about it! You've held back on this version which is a good thing but it hasn't quite come off. I've asked for the photo that you have worked from (see my email), to see if I can sort it out before you plunge into your oil version. The aerial perspective needs a tweak also, but not a bad attempt Fiona.

Love the bright vibrant colours, especially the sky.

Fiona this is smashing. It’s what I call colourific. Nore me not been able to get involved with an upload, so much to sort out.

That's a lovely riot of colour Fiona. I like the landscape but feel the sky needs some darks in it near the top as its a sunrise/sunset, but then I've not seen the photo. Hope you don't mind me saying this, I don't know where I got the audacity :)

Unquestionably bright and colourful, Fiona. The wonderful array of colours would cheer any room immediately - I'd love to see more of your work using pastels.

I particularly like the blocks of colours that make up the sky, Fiona. Such a great optical illusion. Lovely, sunny piece!

Wow, Fiona, this is so very fresh and vibrant, it's gorgeous. Love it!

So lovely and bright Fiona, I love the yellow on the fields. I've just had some pastel pencils and only tried them once as yet but it went straight into the bin it was soooo bad!!! I will try again though.

Lovely, bright and cheerful!! Gorgeous sky!!

Been out all day so just catching up on postings, it's been so sunny and vibrant just like your painting but without the red sky. I find trying to do do landscape in pastel very difficult so I think you have captured the essence of the day beautifully.

Sandra many thanks, I don’t think there will be an oil version.....just doing this sketch has put me off completely! Lol Jim and Carole, thank you both very much. Tessa....arrrrrr......hate it, I have to admit. The only bit I like is the rape field! Thanks. Brian, you are very kind thank you. I have a hit and miss relationship with pastel, mostly miss, and this one will be added to the list....lol. Thank you very much Stephen, most appreciated.

I know Alan, it’s dreadful isn’t it. Don’t worry about the oil version, there isn’t going to be one...lol. Thank you for your kind offer, it is very much appreciated. Thanks Ellen! Many thanks John. Why do we push ourselves to try and fit so much in to our days! Are you moving house, or just too many finished art pieces? The audacity indeed Val!!! Lol.....of course I don’t mind you saying, you’ve highlighted a fair point that could improve this monstrosity, yes, I think you’re right. I will have a tinker but it will no doubt be brushed off and be the underneath of something else.....hee hee.

Oh no you wouldn’t Wib! Lol thank you very much for your positive encouragement. Ibolya, Thalia, Margaret, Rachel, Linda thank you very much ladies for your encouraging input, much appreciated.

Well I like the 'lightness' of this if that makes sense. Great colours.

10”x8” pastel on fisher 400. I don’t like doing sunsets/sunrise paintings, you can easily go over the top. A friend sent me a photo and asked me to have a go.......I thought I would do a pastel sketch first, then try an oil. Is it evident my heart isn’t in it? Lol. I haven’t had chance to do very much arty stuff lately, or comment on your postings......I’ll try and catch up!
