Lovely work beautiful colour Fiona

Painted with great simplicity and flair - lovely work.

Very good oil sketch, especially as it was done on site.

Nice oil Fiona. I like the trees and the foreground. Well done.

Lovely color oil sketch en plein aire! Good for you Fiona. Your description and warm color choices indicate a pretty day to be outside painting. You accomplished the seamless sky into ocean, the land mass under the trees helps my eye know that the horizon line is back there, but on such a day as this, the melting of above into water happens! I love your choice of reddish pink to the sandbar left foreground.

Lovely jubbly Fiona really lovely well done.

A really nice painting Fiona, cold hands never stopped a true artist.

Love the elegant simplicity of this piece, Fiona. The atmosphere is just super!

Nice one Fiona, I love the way the colours flow it gives everything a feeling of movement. I really like the way the sea and sky just blend together virtually seamlessly. The way you have done the trees gives them a feeling of airiness but depth and solidity as well really like this.

Many thanks everyone for your very generous comments. A fury hat, fingerless gloves and thick socks does the trick! It was too good a day not to try a bit of out door painting!lol I thought I might have a go at doing a larger canvas of this?

Well, well, we are put to shame huddling indoors! Lovely result, well worth the effort. I suspect we will see some more gems.

Gudrun, it was just too perfect a day not to go out, apart from being a little on the crisp side. It hasn't turned out as loose as I would have liked....might have another go from this.

This shows the warmth of the day Fiona, lovely hint of pink in foreground.

Love the simplicity of this Fiona and the atmosphere you have created. There is some warmth in the sun now if you find a sheltered spot. My kitchen door catches the morning sun and the other morning touching it felt like a hot water bottle :) This morning it's covered in snow !!

Thanks Carole! Oh dear Val.....I hope that snow has melted! Thank you very much for your comment.

12"x10" pochade oil sketch. It's been like a beautiful summers day here in galloway today...apart from the nip in the air. One of those days where the sky and sea were seamless, found myself a sheltered spot and it wasn't too cold. Rig bay is about five miles from where I live, near the coastal village of Garlieston, it's the bay that the Mulberry habour was built and tested in secret in WW2. There are still a few pieces of the first habour scattered about on the rocks.
