Zig, Zag Hill

Zig, Zag Hill

This caught my eye straight away Fiona - a lovely mix of marks. The hills in that area are great!

Really lively expressive mark making in this painting. You must have enjoyed painting this and it shows.

A very intriguing work, Fiona. It's interesting how lines, almost seemingly random, can combine to make an image that captures the attention. I really like the way you've laid down the lines to create the contours of the hill and the small amount of colour at the top does indeed highlight a late afternoon sun.

Caught my attention straight away Fiona, love the zig zag, nice one

A complete Kaleidoscope of mark making Fiona works so well, nice one.

Great, the return of the old reed pen Fiona. They are so expressive to use, I love them for outdoor sketching. Interesting formulation of shapes and scribbles going on here, nicely done.

This is great, Fiona, love the bold marks against the blue background and the curved aspect to it all.

This is great fun - love it !

I get what you mean about the hills Fiona. This is great fun.

A4 Indian ink, reed pen and pastel on pastel paper. I’ve just re-read Jason Bowyer’s article on reed pens highlighted on the forum, along with the sad news of his death. I cut a few pens at the time the article was first published, along with a couple of other gallery members and found them to be a great asset for mark making. I saw this view yesterday near Moffat, it caught my eye because it looked as though the hill was zig, zagged with hedges, fences and sheep tracks. The battered trees on the summit were highlighted by the late afternoon sun......which I’ve just hinted at.
