Like you Fiona im not keen on the texture ,ive thought the same when I have used it. But this has worked well.

It has worked well. O love yoru trees. Absoloutely fabulous with the hint of light, and that spindly Phipps rendition.

Lovely colours, Fiona, and the more detailed marks in the trees/hedgerows finish it off really nicely.

This is good Fiona. I did mine, as you know, on mountboard but it was blended, but even so, I was a little dubious about the texture.

This is a lovely delicate piece Fiona I also like the colours.

You should Donna, I think the liberating use of them would suit your creative gift. Thanks Adele, it's all about trial and error I suppose when you start off with a relatively new medium. Many thanks Dennis and Henry...no, I don't think I will use mount board again, unless I blend the pastels. What do you use Henry, you manage to get lovely texture in your pastel work?

Not too keen on pastels myself Fiona probably because I find them impossible to use. You've done well!

Thanks Louise, I've always thought the same about pastels but I've quite enjoyed scratching about with them.....and the main thing is it's got me painting again.

Just home from a painting holiday & catching up .... Had decided whilst away next one I do would be venture into pastels as not used before ... I see the comments and reservations but I like this Fiona....I could see it was you, still your lovely style & colours... Thank you for posting as will give this a go!

Yes give them a try Sylvia, I don't really have a very good choice of colours or paper at the moment (just put in a shipping order to Jackson's) but I can see their potential. Especially for painting on location for quick sketches, I suppose it depends on what style and how detailed you want to be. I love the palette in this piece, Fiona - very uplifting and appealing. Amazing how much life and dimension some well placed marks and lines can add. Superb work!
