I can see why you needed to do more work to it, this is a bit insipid compared to yesterday's posting, which I rated highly. You managed to give it some impact which was lacking in this one.

I haven't seen the other one that you posted yet but I do like this a lot Fiona! I can see that I've got some catching up to do!

I like this also Fiona but the sky on your reworked one really sets the whole thing off nicely.

You're too hard on yourself Fiona, it looks to me like storm clouds gathering behind the trees! I prefer the reworked version though, it is much more atmospheric.

I usually call it a happy accident. Glad I saw it before dark Fiona

Thank you again Alan for your advice.

Thanks again Sarah, Carole, Christine and Dennis for taking the time to comment. No nightmares tonight Dennis!

Nice blend of ink and wash, Fiona. i like this.

Yep. Other one works better. However, it was practice one!

Many thanks Ruth. Thanks Gudrun, yes I put it down as a practice run...the next one will be perfect...lol.

A Lovely painting Fiona, I like it :)

I agree too hard on yourself, good work

Maria, Glennis...thank you ladies you are very kind to me.

This is the original, very weak in colour and tones...the main problem was the left hand sky area, I had put in the tree before applying the sky wash and it wasn't quite dry, so the ink bled everywhere. Tried to rectify by adding more sky wash and well....you can see the result, a mess!lol Forgot to add ref the history of the place, it's the ancient seat of the Clan Hannay.
