His slightly squashed look makes me feel a bit sorry for him and what a cute little face..Ah!!.. There again, he could be ready to pounce then I'd feel differently..lol

Definitely a cute face but with a hint of devilment in his eyes :) We rescued a ferret once that found it's way into our garden, I held it and played with it until the SSPCA came to collect it. They produced a pair of giant gauntlets to pick it up with and were very wary of it, it was only then I realized just how unpredictable they can be ( the officer had had a bad experience with one! ) Luckily and thankfully this was a very friendly little chap and was soon reunited with it's owner.

Ferrets have a habit of laying absolutely flat when they are not dancing about all over the place, which Rip is doing here. Personally I think they are taking a breather before planning their next piece of mishchief, or yes, as you say to pounce, and usually on the next passing and unsuspecting bare foot! Lol. The original pencil and wash sketch is in 2011 portfolio...he looks much cuter in that. Thanks for your comment Louise.

With constant handling and kindness they can be as gentle as a kitten, as with any other animal they react to bad treatment. I'm glad your experience was a pleasant one and had a happy ending. I re-homed seven altogether from the RSPCA, some which had escaped and were lost and some that were unwanted. Never recieved one bite...only a nibble or two in play and my eldest lived to ten. It isn't a very good likeness and perhaps does make him look a bit fierce....I'll probably remove it by the end of the day. Thanks for commenting.

Rip still doing well then Fiona, Keep working on those acrylics, you are producing some lovely work.

Ferrets ways remind me of Richard Whitley when one hung onto his finger:) this one wouldn't do that would he Fiona heehee.

Thank you very much Glennis and Carole. Of course he wouldn't Carole........although I have seen him sink his teeth into my husbands elbow, not to the point that he didn't want to let go, as in your afore mentioned episode....lol. Thanks again.

Looks like a ferret to me - piercing expression, nice pink nose and lots of whiskers - perfect.

He is so cute, Fiona. I love his expression and you caught it well!

Pretty good likeness to me. Love that rather conniving look, Fiona!

Many thanks once again Thea, Mia, Seok for your lovely comments.

This is lovely, Fiona! My hubby used to keep ferrets, they are quite engaging creatures. Love the effect you've got with that palette knife.

Another small sketch (to use up left over paint) of a previous sketch done some years ago of one of my Ferrets. The likeness of him isn't so good in this one. Head too flat and eyes too large I think. Done with a small painting knife...again I found, not easy to do. These Acrylics and painting knife are proving to be a definite challenge.
