Angry Sky....workshop demo.

I really like this, a powerful and imaginative image.

Fierce energy in this one, Fiona, great impact, must have been a terrific session. really like it.

I really like this too, Fiona. I knew it was yours instantly when I'd only scrolled down to the top half. I like the energy, the very wet watercolour, the very dark mid-distance trees with a stroke which looks like Chinese brush style, the scratchy foreground branches, the use of pastel, the dry brush texture and the lovely pools of ? Naples Yellow and blue in the bottom right. Lovely!

Thank you Lewis, it was a bit of a hit and miss application. Willie many thanks. It was a two day workshop, 10-4pm with an hour for lunch, I still managed to complete ten paintings. They are all quite loose and scribbly. Roger, hello and thank you. All done with a large mop brush apart from the scratchy branches at the front, I used a rigger for those. The yellow is old Holland Indian yellow and the blue is old Holland manganese blue. There is a bit of raw umber and Payne’s grey, both old Holland again.

This is your signature through and through, Fiona. And there's so much to examine, plus those beautiful colours!

Love these energetic sketches you are producing Fiona, Brilliant work.

Just love all of it!

Marjorie, Sylvia, Linda, Sandra......your comments have made a difference to what I thought about this painting. I thought it was a bit over the top, as I’m known to do, especially the sky. I even thought about cutting most of it away! You have boosted my confidence on this one, or is the sky too much? Thank you ladies.

Love this one Fiona! It caught my eye straight away.

The sky is definitely not too much Fiona. It’s wonderfully brooding and stormy. I love your colour selection.

Ooh certainly looks angry Fiona! Sky and those sharp black shapes in foreground says it all. Fantastic.

Margaret, Tessa, Carole thanks ever so much for your encouragement, I’m very grateful for your kind comments.

A firework display of nature Fiona. Wonderful.

Dynamic and it all seems to be racing towards me Fiona.

Love the angry sky

Very dynamic Fiona.

Lovely colour design Fiona.

Carole, John, Romila, Shirley, Guy thank you all very much for your positive comments.

What a super sky and colours. Blue and Orange always work.

One of my favourite combinations Richard......thank you.

Great energy in this.

Thanks very much Dawn!

I love the semi-abstractness and the freedom you have here Fiona. It’s exciting. You have created something beautiful. I feel you’ve let yourself go in a kind of artistic frenzy and the result is ‘the business’.

Thanks Mick! If I took anything away from the workshop I attended, it was exactly as you mentioned....freedom. She taught, do what you feel, only think about rules if you have to!

14”x12” mixed media, watercolour, ink, soft pastel. Another painting from the workshop I did in November. Based on sketches and demo but much looser.
