Delicate is the right word for this little beauty Fiona. Great sky and the far hills are so soft and gently painted, a really lovely watercolour.

Alan Owen yes - but you've made it your own - nice one Fiona.

Really like the clean, transparent washes on the distant hills, with the stroger tones in the foreground sending them into the far distance, well done Fiona.

Really like this one Fiona, agree with all the above comments, one of your best, even though it was a demo.

Very delicate, love the colour in those washes and the shapes of the trees.

I agree with Michael - it may have been from Alan's demo, but definitely bears your signature touch. The washes are lovely and translucent and the atmosphere is super.

Many thanks Val, Michael, Stephen, Peter, Lesley and Seok for your continued encouragement, it's much appreciated.

Definitely a touch of the Alans (can't we get him back on POL??) but also your own.

By the way, I wrote that without reading the other comments, and see I've virtually duplicated Michael Edwards - great minds think alike, of course.....

The water really shines because the reflections are so good,:)Linda

Another beauty Fiona

Thanks Robert, I've tried to tempt Alan back and told him that he is missed on the site. Thank you Linda and Glennis, much appreciated.

what a pleasant surprise Fiona . I look in the gallery often but missed this one , things move along very quickly .multiple postings don,t help.I am so happy to see you posting ,you are a star, and are so brill.,

Funnily enough when I first saw this I thought Alan Owen then your name nudged to the forefront Fiona knowing what a fan of Alans you are, its lovely, Merry Christmas, Warm regards Bill.

Alan, youv'e made my day!! Thank you very much. X

Thank you Gudrun, William you are very kind and I appreciate your remarks very much. My best wishes to you for Christmas and 2013!

I like it too - and having seen quite a few of your watercolours this year, I wouldn't have said you are heavy-handed with paint?? This is lovely anyway.

Many thanks Heather!

I did this a while ago and if you are thinking it has a Alan Owen-ish look about it.......you would be right! It's from a demo he did on another art site and I enjoyed doing it. It has more of a delicate look to it than I usually do, I'm normally heavy handed with paint as you know. However I restrained myself and this is the result. Arches paper (Not surface) Old Holland paints: I think I used L. red, Col. blue, B. umber and a tiny touch of Cad. yellow for the foreground green shade. Thanks for looking!
