In my humble opinion, leave it as it is because it is lovely and evokative in its minimalist way. However, I am one for black on white ie charcoal and the like, but also pen drawings, precisely because they are so deceptively simple. This would look lovely in a simple black frame with small mount - again in my humble opinion!

So beautiful, Fiona, as it is. It's a great composition and very evocative without the colour. You are, as I've said before, genuinely versatile and accomplished!

This is so effective Fiona- amazing how a few talented strokes of a pen or sharpened bamboo can produce such a lovely picture. I really do like it without any colour.

Excellent stuff Fiona, this pic is fine as it stands and needs nothing added. If you wanted to make another pic you could have a go at a Soumi-e painting if you've got the gear. Nice design for a bonsai group. best Mick

As you know I'm a big fan of colour but I wouldn't add any to this super drawing, it's beauty lies in its simplicity and your excellent drawing skills.

I like it just as it is, Fiona. If you want to try a coloured version you could try printing it onto w/c paper and play with water colour washes on the print - you would still have your original version safe, I sometimes do that............

sorry, it wouldn't go in - and then it went in twice, LOL

This is lovely in its simplicity, Fiona. Pen and ink drawing is a difficult art and much undervalued, I suspect.

nice one Fiona ., a change from your usual , but just great as it is . take care

I agree simplicity - it is lovely.

My husband's browser does a spell check on this site, mine doesn't. "evocative".... Still an excellent drawing!

Leave it, leave it, leave it..... it's good, and it doesn't need a single extra thing. More of these, if you please.

Thank you everyone, that's decided then.......I'll leave it as it is! X

Wonderful drawing, Fiona. I am battling with pen work at the moment, so am very interested to look at your technique. Love your trees which are so beautifully placed with in the composition. Very classy looking piece of work.

Really nice. I would follow Jenny s suggestion and use watecolour on a printed version.

Very nice drawing Fiona, I'm with the 'leave it as it is' company!

Ooops, sorry, should be sumi-e. best Mick

Very nice drawing Fiona, I would say leave it!

Yes, just great as it is. Very gentle on the eyes :)

I think this is absolutely super as it is, Fiona. Good lines, super composition and a lovely tranquil air. Lovely!

All of your encouraging advise has made my mind up to leave this one as it is. I could always do another quick one to put colour on, as Jenny and Pat suggeted. Thank you very much for your kindness.

Yes, Fiona, I agree with the above: leave it as it is! Wonderful, delicate, less is more drawing. I wish I had done this...

Mia, how wonderful to hear from you.....are you back for a while, I do hope so. Thank you very much for taking the time to leave your lovely comment Mia.

In my opinion I would leave it just the way it is. Its beautiful in its simplicity.

Many thanks Denise, much appreciated.

Hearing you sing, O trees, hearing you murmur, "there are older seas, that beat on vaster sands......." Pen & ink sketch taken from a sepia photo by P.G. Read in a poetry and pose book dating from 1932. I suppose it's very likely that these trees are no longer there! I didn't know whether to put some colour on to it, what do you think? Jackson's rough12"x16" Waterproof ink applied with a bit of sharpened bamboo and a dip pen. Thanks for looking.
