really lovely watercolour painting :-) it sort of resembles autumn for me :-) really good lane too :-)

nice one Fiona

Nice and loose Fiona. My thoughts are that the white of the paper looks a bit dull, maybe that's a result of the digital image or is it the paper itself? (Refer to my comment to Jackie- Rannoch Moor-Changing Light) A brighter white would really make it sing and also would make the other washes look fresher.

dear fiona I have poped a line on my last one about honest colours Robert answers what I think .perfectly

Thank you Rebecca, to be honest I can't remember what time of year it was.

Thank you for your comment Robert, I think it may be the paper that makes the watercolour look flat, it's Okra cotton rag and it's an off white colour to start with. It's only draw back I'm afraid because it has a lovely texture to paint on. Perhaps a way round the problem is not to use too many washes on top of one another, it's worked out okay in other watercolours I've done on it.....I think. I'll have to go back and have a look, now you've drawn my attention to it. Thanks again, appreciate it.

Thanks Alan, I'm off to have a look.

Lovely painting, I like your style Fiona

Really good Fiona, yout trees have a beautiful shape.

You really have a distinctive style now, Fiona - this one jumped off the page as being yours. It's been crafted so well and has a lovely calm feel to it. Like it a lot!

Jane beat me to it - your distinctive style ... lovely and, to use another word, tranquil.

Beautiful watercolour again Fiona! Nice and loose and I like the small masses of leaves .

This is the second time I've done a watercolour from the photo I took some years ago. It's around the Curry mallet, Curry Rival area in Somerset. The first attempt is in my 2011 (May) portfolio under 'new brush sketch'. It's really interesting to see the difference in the two paintings. Whether there is an improvement or not, I don't know, I like to think there is a little improvement. Cotton rag paper and Old Holland watercolours.
