Sure is a bit different - really unusual and I love the result.

This is amazing, Fiona. Great perspective and beautiful, limited colours, I love it.

Thanks Michael and Mia for your generous comments.

Great to see something a bit different, with an interesting compositon and a lovely sky, Fiona. What do you think of Old Holland watercolours as compared to other brands, out of interest?

Unusual angle and very effective Fiona with just a hint of colour. Like it a lot!

Thanks for your lovely comment Caroline. I came across old Holland colours by chance really, I wanted manganese blue and old Holland was the first brand I found that did it ,so I ordered it. I found it to be really rich and lovely to use. I was getting low on a couple of other colours so thought I would give them a go from old Holland and see if they were as good. I wasn't disappointed. I've replaced all the colours I generally use for watercolours, which isn't many by the way, eight at the most. I do have Winsor & Newton paints but I find them a bit thin in comparison.

Thank you very much Jane, much apprecited.

Beautiful and fun, Fiona! Love the very light hearted, airy feel of this painting!

This lovely piece, Fiona. Very enegetic!!!

I've always wondered whether painting a picture looking up would create the effect as good as in real life. It does. I like it. I am also interested in your comments on water colours as I am not really very knowledgeable. I have Lukas ones and they are very "creamy" and rich. I just need to get them out more!

Nice one Fiona and thanks for the info on old Holland watercolours, will look out for those!

Thank you so much Seok, Midori, Gudrun and Debs for your lovely comments. I had fun in mind for this painting, glad it comes over. I'm not very knowledgeable about waterolours either Gudrun....I just close my eyes, take a deep breath and hope for the best! Debs, if you use light red or similar colours, the venetian red is lovely.

Thanks Satu, glad you like it.

Really clever and inventive view of the trees. I really like the monochrome trunks which then burst into a fresh and sunny green at the top.

Thanks Thea, your comments are always welcome.

Pen & wash. A friend sent me a slide show of trees of all shapes, sizes and colours. I think these two are silver birch with their fresh spring foliage. A different view to the usual way we see trees. Done on Bockingford, waterproof ink and old Holland watercolours, 12"x8".
