No, you didn't fiddled too much. I think it is ok, very lively and spontaneous. Maybe, in my opinion, a hint of a brick here and there on the bridge?

We all try to maintain a 'fiddle free zone' and are our own worse critics but it looks great to me.

Looks good to me as well!

This is delightful Fiona, a lovely composition.

Lovely watercolour Fiona

Many thanks everyone for your encouraging comments. Mia, I know what you mean by hinting at a few stones in the bridge, if I feel brave enough I may give it a go. :)

I love the delicate way you have painted the tree branches. Lovely ;)

Lovely little picture i would personaly leave the bridge without detail . simple is best

You are getting really good at these understated paintings. They are very effective in their simplicity and harmony.

Nice watercolour Fiona, you have kept it simple and spontaneous but effective, but I would have ventured a few stonework touches on the bridge as I do not think it would have detracted from your painting and the simplicity you have achieved, a nice piece

Anne, Robert, Thea and Graham thank you for taking the time to comment. I'm sure it's due to the feedback on POL that there is improvement in some of my pictures.

I agree with the others, this is nice and fresh, distinct lack of fiddling!

Agree with Stephen, nice and fresh!

Thank you Stephen, Debs for looking and commenting.

I wonder why this would come under trials and tribulations because you make it look so simple, Fiona! And I know it's not! No you did not fiddle too much. I think there is just the right amount of detail and the composition is super!

You're very kind Seok, thank you very much.

All of the praise in the above comments are well justified, Fiona. You are excelling yourself with these watercolours. But you know me....always complaining about something!! The far wall of the bridge should curve downwards a little more before it exits the picture on the right hand side to more clearly indicate that it is parallel with the top of the wall on the nearside. (I hope that is clear). Personally, I would not add any further detail to the bridge wall. If it becomes too detailed it will make the rest look unfinished - which it isn't.

Hi Lionel, thank you very much for those kind words. I've taken a look at the bridge......and as usual......you are absolutely right about the angle of the bridge not being sharp enough in the fall away. Something else I've noticed having had another look, is the bridge has got a bit of a tilt to it as well!!

Sorry Fiona forgot to reply - I have already got My Corner of Field-- and would you believe it from a car boot, and I'm quids in. I've got a mate though who's keeping an eye on the bidding , he wants the book ----- Many thanks Fiona ---- Just to refresh your memory this little bridge is in Bradford Dale and the stream runs into the river Lathkill at Alport. ---If you went over that bridge and up the hill you would be in the village of Youlgrave. All the best darling and happy painting

Just looked through your gallery Fiona, so much to comment on so I decided to sat well done, several are very much to my liking esp, 18 love the sea ans the figures make the picture work very well, No 28 good water and reflections very well done, No 29 Delightful almost, 'to me' an abstract work, love it, No 37 lovely fore groung and again the figures make the painting come to perfect life. I can see you enjoy painting as I do. Kind regards Chris

Thank you Chris for your lovely comments and for taking the time to look through my gallery. I look forward to seeing your next painting......good luck with the portrait!

A brige towards the end of the Lathkill Dale walk, done from a photo taken many years ago. I've changed the background a ittle and intended to make it a simple painting, but as usual I've fiddled too much!
