beautiful water ,and I see kept your tree nice and mutted ,you could so easily have used bright greens and colours, and that would have been a disaster ,I like it a lot //.it is so simple yet says it all.. van goch would be proud of you .not quite his bridge,, or yellows .,but getting there .,,. its a shame there are no more hay stacks .or we could have painted one together sat ,with a straw in our mouths , take care alan

What a beautiful painting, Fiona. As Alan says: your tree is super. Well done!

Well done, Fiona. Love the red roof and the loose foreground reflections.

Agree with the comments already made and the red roof to the house which just draws you into the painting, like the treatment of the water and reflections as well, a nice piece .

I agree I think you have done really well, especially as this is a new medium to you. I really like the tree. I think if you cropped the painting as a square the composition works much better, that way it balances out the bits you like, and loses the right side that is a bit empty, just a thought.

Thak you all for taking the time to look and comment....I appreciate it.

Thank you Alan I'm glad you approve. Do we need a hay stack?

It's really lovely, Fiona! There's such an air of calm and quietitude about this painting. It's super!

Well, Fiona, I agree with the above. This is a really lovely painting, and I particularly like the understated, almost casual brush strokes used on the left hand tree. Your treatment of the water is just great. I also like the fact that the adjustments you made to your water colour versions of this scene have been carried over into this oil painting. Well done!

Thank you so much Seok Yam and Lionel, you are very kind.

Here's my go in oils Lionel, as you can see I haven't strayed from Alan's original really. The only part I like about it is the foreground tree on the left and the strip of yellow ochre in the middle distance.
