Steve this is a very classy piece of art! I absolutely love it, one of your best I think.....quite original. The the scummbled texture and colours give a perfect background for this kind of subject. Great title too!

Thanks Fiona, isnt it the case that we often get carried away with scale yet a simple small piece can be very effective. The Macbeth and Scottish influance are wetting my antisipation for a planned holiday on skye later this year. Best regards Steve

I paint Scots pine a lot and a friend described them as the three witches of Macbeth. Hence the title. The painting is just 8 inch square on kahdi hand made paper produced from recycled cotton. I've randomly applied gesso before painting and then sanded back the surface to reveal the texture. The trees came last and were inspired by trees seen on the east coast of Scotland.
