Wow, fabulous

Top class inventive subject work as ever Diana. Great job with the colours reflecting the sadness aspect.

Stunning Diana. Is it just me but I find mannequins very scary.

House of Fraser by any chance? Another excellent painting Diana.

Times are a changing! Once again superb lighting and painting of an unusual subject.

You have created a very subtle atmosphere portraying the end of an era. Such amazing skill and ingenuity in a very original painting Diana.

I love the narratives to your paintings Diana, the scene and palette express your sadness.

I admire your artistic instinct and great painting skills to show the unique interesting view, Diana.

Thank you to all who looked at this piece. When I took the photographs, I felt a mixture of amusement and sadness. I think the painting reflects the sadness, as Fiona suggests. I found it very difficult to create a painting from the images I have and it was was going to the bin until I threw a line across it and was happier with the outcome because the rather bland foreground and right hand side were broken up. Thank you Romila for your much appreciated comment Hello Jim and thanks. Those glass shelves were more difficult than I would have imagined Morning Heather , yes, I know what you mean . These particularly so in an empty store. Yes John , House of Frazer , Hammonds, Binns . loss of my favourite Hull store. Thanks Stephen. Im not sure it works as a painting but it was a subject with memories. Thank you Carole . I appreciate your thoughts. Its definitely not a piece many would want on the wall but then I find beauty and in this case sadness with a touch of humour in unusual subjects. Thank you Fiona. I'm pleased that you can feel the emotion in this rather bizarre image. Thank you Yoko. It was a strange experience taking photographs of naked mannequins in an empty department store

Super as usual Diana. the times they are a changing. And its all changing faster then ever.

Thanks John. You're right, change is everywhere and beyond the current crisis, who knows!

Such an unusual subject and tells a story, the sadness comes through.

Superb but very sad sign of the times Diana even before the current times. Very well captured.

Excellent again

The atmosphere is perfectly depicted with a monochrome palette. It is a sad situation where human exchange is replaced by on-line isolation ! I'm happy to be able to go out again and buy some mount boards in my local shop - keep safe in Britain.

Really good!

Thank you Shirley and Avril. I hope we never lose our shops completely. Thank you Paul and Tessa. This was before the current situation. Thank you Anjana, initially I thought it would be a comedy piece but the desperation seems to have taken over

It was sad to see the closure of our local department store earlier this year I have visited it as a small child through to a grandmother myself. This was the day before it’s final closure.
