The tulips have a good feel to them Dawn. A little bit more colour on the dragon fly, their wings and body can reflect beautiful colouring. Thats my thought.

I think you have managed it really well with the black background, I find it really difficult to get a brightness of colour with the pastel on dark grounds.

Thank you for all your lovely comments. I have tried to add more colour to the dragonfly as you suggested, John. Linda, you are right, it's hard to get the brightness with the pastels on the dark background. I found it especially difficult with the dragonfly.

Not my usual subjects. My sister in law asked me to paint tulips and a dragonfly as a wedding gift for a good friend and her new husband. i hope she likes it. I blocked in with pastelmat first and then used soft pastel and pastel pencils for detailing. My first time using black paper.
