This certainly looks a great improvement Dawn, I've watched this on the forum, it's good to have knowledgeable people we can ask.

The colours are so right, Dawn. Is this the bridge you cross to go into Walton Park? Some of your subjects are so familiar to me from my early childhood in the 60s. You painted a lychgate. I'd never known the name of the graveyard at the end of Windmill Lane / top of Red Lane but I recognised it immediately. You have to be careful if you ride your bike too fast down Red Lane, the hump back bridge at the bottom nearly launches you into orbit!

Cool and tranquil Dawn, just what’s needed for today!

Love how you have picked out the highlights Dawn, especially on the foliage on the bridge. Lovely scene, good composition.

Thank you, Margaret, Roger, Karen and Fiona. It certainly is, Margaret. I find the forum very useful. It's the bridge further down opposite the Walton Arms and near the golf club, Roger.

I like this, Dawn.

A4 size pastel on pastelfix. This resulted from a plein air session with Warrington Art Group. I did a couple of sketches first to check composition and perspective, then finished this off at home. It was a bit dull at first, so I got some excellent advice from the forum and I am much happier with it now.

About the Artist
Dawn Halliwell

I started painting in Jan 2016 after the death of my youngest sister. I found it great therapy and still do! I love experimenting with different techniques and media. I mainly work in pastel or oils for pet portraits, but I also enjoy doing ink portraits with the odd landscape thrown in for good…
