Bridgewater Canal - sky and water practice

Bridgewater Canal - sky and water practice

Lowely work, Dawn.

I particularly like the very well painted tree against the light sky. Its starkness does reflect the loss you feel.

I must say Bridgewater is not a place I would look for inspiration in, but this is brilliant, Dawn!

Thank you Cesare, Stephen, Margaret and Linda for your kind comments. You are right Stephen, I could feel such a sense of loss when I painted this. Beauty and loss are a very emotive combination. Sometimes I like this painting and sometimes it makes me feel quite uncomfortable, because of the feelings it evokes.

This was meant to practise sky and water in watercolour, so i used cheap paper. Lesson learned - use proper paper next time. I found this one quite emotional to paint. It is from a photo taken by one of my sisters of a place my other sister(who died 3 years ago) used to enjoy visiting.

About the Artist
Dawn Halliwell

I started painting in Jan 2016 after the death of my youngest sister. I found it great therapy and still do! I love experimenting with different techniques and media. I mainly work in pastel or oils for pet portraits, but I also enjoy doing ink portraits with the odd landscape thrown in for good…
