Cotton grass Goyt valley
Another in my series od red paintings. I liked the contrast between the cotton grass in the foreground against the deep landscape behind. The Goyt valley above Buxton can be very bleak in winter [and in summer too sometimes]. It is a great country for walking. The landscape is scrubby peaty bog land and colder than Christmas with the wind. This particular patch of bog grass is just beyond the Cat and Fiddle pub looking down the Goyt. I remember falling in the river on a childhood summer picnic and even in August it was icy, as an adult I am always very glad I am not a sheep on these exposed hills. 45 x 40 cms acrylic on canvas stretched over board.
