Black Iris

Black Iris

A stunning study.

So accomplished Margaret....beautiful.

Really beautiful Margaret. You can't always see with the naked eye the colours contained within, say, a petal. But this is much more interesting than if you had just painted it black. You could, before uploading the photo, have edited it to make it a bit deeper but then that would have darkened the lower petals too much. This is just great.

Love iris and this is gorgeous colour Margaret, well done.

Thank you Willie, Fiona and John for your lovely comments. Adele, yes I've noticed the variation in the colour of flowers, nature is wonderful, many thanks for your nice comment.

Very impressive Margaret, the lower left petal looks really velvety.

Thank you Marjorie for your lovely comment.

Iris are wonderful flowers and a joy...just like this painting Margaret.

Lovely painting Margaret with great colours. Nice details too. Well done.

Fabulous painting Margaret

Thank you Sylvia, Henry and Dermot for your lovely comments.

Great colour and markings Margaret

A lovely study of an iris Margaret, such rich deep colours.

Beautiful flower Margaret, well painted.

Thank you Carole, Val and Cesare, it's nice to hear your comments.

Hang on Studio Wall

A watercolour. This was painted from my own photo which was taken on a visit to Powys Castle in mid Wales. The flower looked jet black but when I looked at it on the computer, the colours in the petals were showing reds and purples. When I uploaded the photo to POL it looks lighter than the painting actually is.

About the Artist
Margaret Beynon

March 2019 I am self taught, reading from books and watching dvd's and of course YouTube. Watercolour painting was my first love and then I moved on to coloured pencils which I like very much. I have just started using acrylics which are a very different medium but so far I'm enjoying using them…
