Cotswold barn II

Cotswold barn II

Pretty scene Caroline.I like how you lead the eye to that lovely farmhouse and the shadows in the snow are very good too :)

Very nice landscape Caroline, I'm sure JFW would have approved.

Good light; good composition and palette; good painting. Never be afraid to do it again. Most times you improve it somehow.

Thank you Sarah, Stephen and Gudrun, I can't take the credit which goes to JFW but copying is a great way of learning isn't it. I will crack on with doing more of my own work and that's my New Year's resolution.

A beautiful scene, beautifully painted.

A lovely piece, so beautifully done.

Lesley and Seok Yam, thank you for your encouraging words!

Agree with all of above, great building and sky

Thank you Ros for taking the time to comment, I appreciate it.

Caroline I like this one best. Yes very Fletcher-Watson and very well done. The dry brush twigs work wel and the warm and cool shapes in the snow work to give some oomph.

Hi Alan, thank you for your kind comments.

hi Caroline, I've just done some sleuthing to reply to your comments on my paintings. Thank you for being so positive. For my series of painting a picture a day for April I'm using watercolour, acrylic and acrylic ink and sometimes Indian ink. I find painting winter branches is easier using ink and a nib rather than a brush. I love this painting by the way. I often think a second go works better because you know what not to do. In fact I like all your work I'm glad I looked you up.

Thank you Dawn, I like your work very much and it's encouraging to hear you like mine.

Hang on Studio Wall

I gave away my first go at this, so I painted another one to replace it on my wall. I was a bit worried about giving the first one away, but let it go and learned a lot painting it again. On 15" x 11" Bockingford Not, after James Fletcher Watson.
