Excellent example of how a humdrum scene can inspire the plein air painter to produce an atmospheric piece of work.

Great subject as Peter says and a smashing little version of it using a very upmarket and expensive pochade

Great display of your gears Caroline, the painting can we see it up close, Nhoj

Again good to see painting in location.

Nice and fresh, as happens when you do it outside

Thank you Peter, Derek, John, Sian and Lucy for your encouraging comments, much appreciated. I'm getting the impression there might be a sense that I'm posting photos of my plein air setup in order to show it off, but I'm posting in a very different spirit. I love to see other people's plein air palettes, and to see the painting in situ next to the scene puts it in context and shows the thinking behind the choices. The palette isn't upmarket or expensive; i did lots of searching and happily it's the cheapest one in the States and if anyone's interested I'm happy to pass on details.

John, yes, the painting itself is also on the gallery, should be next to this one.

And the result is a lovely thriving plant Caroline. You look very well set up there.

Hey! No Caroline that's not my reason for comments - please. I too like to view others gear and results, in fact I have just posted a shot of my home made pochade. I would have bought one like yours way back but I don't do any en plein aire work except with my sketch nook. Good luck and keep them coming.

Thank you very much, Adele and Gudrun! Derek, I'm too concerned what other people think, an unhelpful trait, but I'm glad to hear you're interested in the setup. I'd love to see your photo: where can I find it?

Nature took over when we forgot to empty an old wheelbarrow full of earth.
