Magical painting, and I don't think I agree with Michael - this is the shape some old elms assumed - whether this is one or not - the 'wine-glass' shape; we're no longer familiar with it for obvious reasons and it's a tragic loss which has transformed the appearance of the British countryside (and most of Europe's too). The appearance of compacted snow in the lane is particularly well done.

My goodness this is a wonderful landscape Bruce - you are an expert in the use of colour & composition

Superb tree & sky but everything goes together so well. I love the warmth in such a cold scene -great picture.

Beautifully atmospheric, Bruce.

A super piece Bruce.

This is well thought out with lovely palette and wonderful lighting Bruce.

Beautiful atmospheric snow scene Bruce, love the colours

My thoughts exactly Michael but what do I know about trees, The colour and light in this lovely work was an immediate eyecatcher on the thumbnails page.

Great painting, Bruce.

A truely superb painting, Bruce. Your colours and perspective are always so beautifully done. They always stand out on the page.

Superb! The dark foreboding sky contrasting with the flash of light in the foreground is spectacular.

The sky is wonderful ,the snow is brilliant and the tree with the light in it is magical, what more can one say?

Stunningly atmospheric, beautifully composed and rendered.

Many thanks for all your encouraging comments
